apprenticeship scheme
CDLA has, since 1989, been offering periodic ‘work experience’ placements, summer holiday internships, and formal apprenticeships to young people who are seriously interested in learning about book publishing and, in particular, the work of literary agencies. Only one person is taken on at a time.
availability
From a practical standpoint, it is only advisable to apply if you have accommodation in London and your travel route consumes less than 45 minutes.
qualifications
From the point of view of qualifications, we are only interested in applicants who have:
>immaculate written English
>a clear, logical writing style
>an aversion to clichés
>boundless curiosity
>presentational and organisational skills
>an ability to read quickly, critically and productively.

If you are eligible and you would like to apply, please send in the following:
>A covering letter and C.V, to include the dates during which you are available.
>A sample of your handwriting.
>A typed essay of no more than 500 words analysing why the top five best-selling books (in any one of the national bestseller lists) have been so successful and achieved this position.
>A typed essay of no more than 500 words describing what you’ve read in the past year and why.
>Photocopy any piece of bad writing that is to hand and write a summary of all its faults.
